It's finally here! Well, almost…. Ridley Scott's prequel to the 1979 'Alien' is due to hit UK cinema screens in August this year.

'Alien Prometheus' (which is set to be the scariest one yet, although tha shouldn't be hard after the last 3 'Alien' flops) shows us just how much special FX have evolved since the first films over 30 years ago.

Halon Entertainment is the Santa Monica based special FX company working alongside the designers of Prometheus to create the dark and futuristic set that tells the story of a team of explorers who want to find the origins of middle earth. Their journey takes them to the darkest corners of the universe where they will battle to save the human race.

Scott is again using the help of Swiss surrealist, painter, sculptor, designer and interior architect H.R. Giger who is known for his creation of 'the alien' that became the iconic creature in the films.

His creation also won him the academy award for 'Best Achievement for Visual Effects' in 1980.

We can't wait to see what thrilling effects have been used in the latest Alien horror!
