This new technology is closing the gap on what we see as reality and what we see as computer generated.

Augmented reality allows you to see, hear, feel and smell virtual graphics on the palm of your hand, the road in front of you or across your dining room wall.

This new technology means you are able to make a phone call without taking your phone from your pocket. How? A series of graphics, specific to the control you want to use, e.g. the keypad of a mobile phone, are projected onto a surface such as your hand or a wall. The user is able to interact with the graphic being projected by tapping in a telephone number, which then calls your chosen contact from your mobile phones address book.

Researchers have also created glasses, which show the graphics in the wearers' field of view. The graphics will continuously refresh themselves to work with the movements of your head and can show you anything from where your closest Italian restaurants are to animated creatures which will follow you as you walk along the high street.
