SpinVox: Association of Speakers Conference - Communications Programmes

The Brief:

Our client Spinvox needed to quickly deliver a memorable campaign to promote it's voice mail products at the International Association of Speakers Conference. They wanted a printed solution that was light-hearted and not too 'hard sell' that communicated the benefits of voicemail technology to an audience who made their living on the professional speaking circuit.

Our solution:

We came up with the 'Historically Speaking' campaign built around the conceit that if Spinvox voicemail technology had been available at earlier periods in history the world would certainly be a changed place. Imagine if Captain Scott received a voice mail telling him turn back from his ill-fated trek to the South Pole, or Julius Ceasar had got the message that visiting the Forum would be a bad move.

We came up with a whole range of humorous scenarios built around text messages 'that would change the course of history'. The client absolutely loved the concept and the copy writing (her actual comment was "I totally, totally love this!").

The result:

The campaign was delivered as a series of cards contained within foldout packs. No single delegate at the conference received an entire set of Historically Speaking cards, which encouraged them to swap the cards between each other. It proved to be a good ice-breaker at the start of the conference - an unintended but very welcome benefit. Due to the humorous but cerebral nature of the campaign it played to the mindset of Association of Speakers members - not an easy group to target or impress.
